Have you ever made excuses to yourself or others about why you’re not in the kind of shape you’d like to be?

#1 (Sorry) Excuse: Working out takes time…time that I don’t have!

Erica’s Tough Love…Ok, I certainly believe you’re busy. That’s fair. But why can’t you wake-up 30 minutes earlier? If that’s not in the realm of possibility, I can jive with that, too. Let me ask you this, do you watch TV? Do you use social media? Do you spend lots of time doing “research” online?

Happy Reality: If you have any “screen” time available to you, you DO have time to sneak in exercise! WOOT!

#2 (Sorry) Excuse: Working out at the gym costs $ that I don’t have. Oh, and I don’t have $ for workout equipment at home.

Erica’s Tough Love…First, you don’t need a gym to workout anymore (a lot of them aren’t open anyway). Second, there are plenty of body weight exercises and exercises that only require an inexpensive set of dumbbells or resistance bands. Third, I’d guess that if you put the $ you spend on eating out towards a gym membership or equipment; you’d have more than enough.

#3 (Sorry) Excuse: I wouldn’t even know where to start, when it comes to exercise!

Happy Reality: Yep. LiveThriveGrow.com. Truly, at this very moment, I am leading a fitness & nutrition challenge for FREE! Next month I’ll have yet another fitness & nutrition challenge. I will not leave you without the resources you need to get healthy!

#4 (Sorry) Excuse: I’m not THAT out of shape.

Erica’s Tough Love: If you have to qualify your “out of shape-ness” I think it’s time to get real. Don’t you want to be able to confidently say that you’re in great shape & make your health a priority? Plus, you truly can’t afford to NOT get in shape. Consider the alternative…including increased risk of disease.

Happy Reality: It’s not too late to upgrade your fitness! It’s not too late to take care of your health. NOW is the best time to start!

#5 (Sorry) Excuse: Every time I start a new workout program, I end up quitting. I am tired of failing.

Erica’s Tough Love: You’re failing now if you can’t forgive yourself for your failures & learn from them. There are no failures. There’s only success and learning opportunities.

Happy Reality: Everyone falls down. You have the opportunity to get back up AND prove to yourself that you matter. It’s time to earn your own trust back.

#6 (Sorry) Excuse: I am not a morning person, and I am exhausted at the end of the day. Plus, at night I am needed to make dinner, take care of the kids and finally sit down.

Erica’s Tough Love: You need to put yourself on your own priority list. No one else can or will do it for you. Anything worthy of your time & attention is going to be uncomfortable and cause you to stretch.

Happy Reality: You are the one running your life. You are writing your story. If you want to be fit & healthy, you can find the time (or steal it) to make it happen!

If you were able to see yourself in any of the excuses above, I’ve got you. You are not in this alone. You can change your life. You can change your health.

Self-Reflection: Change starts with you and is based on what you value most. Think on that for a bit. What do you really value most?

What’s your “why” for getting up in the morning? What is the most important thing in your life, and what do you have to do to protect that?
