The holidays are upon us…I know that you know that. But are you feeling jovial yet?
Have the holiday festivities created excitement, celebration, comfort & joy?
So far, I’ve honestly felt both. Here’s why.
This whole decorating thing…I have to tell you it’s a lot of work, and we haven’t even started the outside of our home yet! NOPE! LOL!
We’ve done the tree, manager scenes & other glittery items to make the house feel like the holidays. THIS, I feel good about.
But not the outside of the house. That remains undone. And why? I could do it myself – and probably faster than I can even write this email.
Do you know what I’m talking about?
Here’s the deal…my cute husband had rotator cuff surgery last month, and that has stalled a few home projects.
The truth is that he’s always got something going on, and I don’t think our home would function if he didn’t. You see we have an older home (1991 I think), and an older pool.
A week after the shoulder surgery he fixed the pool pump with one arm. I’m not even kidding. The other arm was in a sling while he manually sawed through some plastic piping to replace it with something else (maybe copper).
He even made me a mirror, y’all. I mean full on mirror with backing, framing, paint and all the things. It’s beautiful! You’ll get to see it Wednesday in LTF Fitness Insiders when I do my Workout Wednesday exercise. 🙂 I love it.
But the Christmas decorations outside? They are a whole different level of procrastination, for me anyway.
I mean, the fact that we’re pretty much expected to have them up to contribute to the beauty of the neighborhood is pressure. Am I right?
I have some neighbors that read my emails…so if you’re reading this, know I ADORE you. And I’ve already seen your decorations, and they are making me feel…like I need to forgo my workout tomorrow to put lights up…but you know that will never happen.
People, we must have priorities.
And everything in my life (and in my family’s life) just works better once I have my workout in. If you don’t know what I’m talking about…I’ve got you. I hope to have lots of time together to talk about this…and many many other reasons fitness will forever (seriously) change your life.
That’s why I do what I do.
But…the holiday decorations? They may need to wait, especially if you want to get a holiday card in the mail from me. 🙂
So…what are you putting off? You knew I’d come back to this. Didn’t you? 🙂
With all of the crazy of the holiday season, I certainly hope you’re not putting off your health. And by that I mean fitness & nutrition. You know the drill.
I know how easy it is to let things slip, y’all trust me. If it’s not the holiday lights for me, it’s something else.
But one thing I know about you…already…is that you’re hanging out with me for a reason. And it’s not just my charming personality and pearly white smile. 🙂
You are here, because you want/need to be inspired to take care of yourself. You know how important your fitness is, and you probably even know all of the benefits you realize when you’re keeping at it on a regular basis.
But there will ALWAYS be something to get in the way of working out. ALWAYS. it’s just the way life is. Accept that and move forward.
In fact, it will very rarely be convenient to get your fitness on. You’ll rarely jump out of bed in the morning itching to do a plank, bicep curls or take a jog. Nope.
What will happen is that (over time) working out will become easier, as you prioritize it and prioritize yourself.
You will start to see results and feel the benefits of a consistent workout routine and then…you’ll be hooked. This I can guarantee!
It will become second nature to want to get your fitness fix. It’s a real thing.
If you start to feel a bit cranky or crabby, you’ll remember that you need to workout in.
When your jeans feel a bit tight, you’ll get back on track with your workouts.
If you can’t stop eating sugary sweets and treats, you’ll remember the benefit fitness gives you in limiting your unhealthy food cravings.
When you feel exhaustion coming on, you’ll remember you missed a workout. Fitness is energy-giving, afterall.
Believe me- there will always be an excuse…a reason even…to not fit in your fitness. I am asking you to call on your discipline – not motivation for heaven’s sake. Discipline.
Nike has it right. JUST DO IT!
Lace up your tennis shoes. Grab your water bottle & head outside.
You can do this, AND you are worth it!
I hope y’all have an excellent week. Until next time!
